On Tuesday I had Chumash with Rashi in the morning, ate lunch, and went to Ulpan. I didn't go to Zionism because I was in charge of buying food for the elections party, so Missy, Aviva, and I went to the shuk. We bought 2 kilograms
of gummy worms, 4 big bags of popcorn, pretzels, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, and honey-covered peanuts. We then walked to Wolfson (the medical center) so that Missy could pick up the prescription for her antibiotic. We came back to base, dropped the food in my room, and then Avishai and I drove to a supermarket about ten minutes away to buy soda and drinks for the party. We got back in time for dinner, ate, and then had "Erev Nativ" - the weekly programming on base. The Kibbutz group had a program with the guy who leads the Jewish Educators program I do, and it was a lot of fun. We had to act out different personalities (such as pairing up and having one person being a shop owner in the shuk trying to sell an American tourist something), mirror-image each other, etc. We got into groups and had to act out an item having to do with Israel, and then we had to come up with an advertisement (ours was for Naot). Our groups were then given three slips of paper - a fairy tale, a style, and an issue in Israeli society. My group had Cinderella, Western, and the religious-secular conflict in Israel. We had Cinderella wanting to be religious but living in a secular family who wouldn't let her go to shul. Her fairy Yenta helped her go to shul, where she spotted her "prince" over the mechitza.
It was my friend Yael's birthday, so out group celebrated with Bamba and ice cream (since she can't eat gluten). We had a meeting of the elections va'ad next, in which we set up the room for the party, put up posters, and set up the tv. Then some friends and I went out for frozen yogurt/smoothies for Yael's birthday (mine had peanut butter and banana in it - it was good, but heavy). I had had a stomachache all day, and after the smoothie it got a lot worse. We came back and I tried staying up, but ended up going to bed around 1. I wanted to wake up at 5 to go to the party, but I slept until 6:25, at which point I walked into another room to watch Obama speak, and then went back to sleep because I still didn't feel 100%. I ended up sleeping through Talmud (until 12:21), then got up for lunch. I showered and went to Halacha L'Maaseh. Missy and I got the key to the storage space from Yossi, and then went exploring. People on past Nativ's leave things to future Nativers, and we all collected what had been left to us within the first week. Basically anything left is up for grabs, so Missy and I went looking for shelves for our rooms. We got a lot of shelves (and were able to share with people), band-aids, storage bins, a lamp, speakers, blank cd's, measuring cups, plates, List College playing cards, and more. We came back and cleaned everything, and then set up the shelves. I went to dinner at Soya (a Chinese restaurant) with Missy, Yael, Hannah Goldberg, Aviva, Lauren, and Bobby. I had a chicken and pineapple dish. We came back and went to the Jewish Educators program, which was great. I came back to my room and cleaned up (now my room is so neat!). Robert and I walked to Ben Yehuda and went to Aldo for sorbet, then walked back. A bunch of us hung out on the second floor, and then I went to sleep.
