So Tuesday night is the night we have Erev Nativ. This week Be’er Sheva (which is the track I am on) had a room completion. We received a text message that afternoon saying “Tonight’s Erev Nativ will involve a roommate competition. Please
come dressed in a room uniform. Creativity will be rewarded.” So since my roommates and I are all on different schedules we had a difficult time planning out what we were going to wear. At first we thought about going as the Israeli flag but realized that our lack of blue tape to produce the Jewish star lacked the luster that we needed to out shine all of the other rooms. So at 7:12pm, which was eighteen minutes before we had to meet at 7:30pm, an Idea sparked of dressing up as grapes. So my one of roommates, Roshana, and I ran to Super Sol, the grocery store across the store to buy balloons. To make it real we only really wanted to wear green or purple balloons but since they don’t just sell these in individual packs of specific colors we decided to buy 3 packs of 50 multi-colored balloons instead. We got back at 7:18pm and quickly picked out all of the balloon colors we needed adding some other close colors to fill in the gaps. We were late only by 5 minutes but we really just wanted to make an entrance. And that we did! As soon as we walked into the room everyone turned back to look at us and take pictures. Shortly after we arrived the competition began, it included 20 trivia questions, ranging from history of Israel, world geography, American History and pop culture. After a rigorous game, of being in second place the entire time, we were able to wager all 11 of our points on the last question. After getting the question right, all the rooms had to present themselves and why they were dressed the way they were. It was a tough competition but…. WE CAME OUT VITORIOUS!!! It was such a great feeling. We were award with air freshener which is a great thing to have here. It was excellent.
